This inspiring story is of a rising startup called Face Foundrie started by Michele H. in the Service Business // Facial Bar to make people feel good and build their confidence through proper skincare. The startup has managed to get seed funding. Here is the story of Face Foundrie in Michele’s own words.

We believe that when you feel good you ultimately do good and through our mission we aim to make the world a better and brighter place by providing cutting edge skincare services (40 minute facials, waxing, lash extensions and a curated collection of skin carer products).

Introduce us to the idea of Face Foundrie

We are an efficient and effective facial bat, that means we are an open air concept that allows clients to walk in, book a 40 minute facial, remain fully clothed, and walk out feeling refreshed and see a noticeable difference in their skin.

We have completely broken the mold with the traditional spa environment and digitalized it from the aesthetic to the way that clients can book in on our app in under 60 seconds or via Instagram messenger.

With this crazy world, we live in we have pivoted and also turned our in-store protocols into GLOW TO GO’s. These are our at-home facial kits, same steps, the same process as in-store only clients can now do them anytime and anywhere.

What’s your strategy story? What led you to start Face Foundrie?

The mission was to make people feel confident in their skin. When you look good, you feel good and in turn you do good! It all started after I had my third child and the hormones from pregnancy had completely changed my skin for the worst. My confidence was shaken. Since your face is the first thing people notice and mine was all out of sorts.

I tried to book into spas but I was unimpressed with both the lack of open hours outside of Monday through Friday 9-5 and the results I was getting from these expensive treatments.

The question kept plaguing me “Why isn’t there an accessible option for facials that has effective results? Why isn’t there a place that uplifts people, with skincare routines that are customized, a clean and inviting space with employees that help build confidence with their clients?” After searching for many months I decided I would create it.

How are you cost conscious at Face Foundrie?

We are extremely cost-conscious! Face Foundrie is only 20 months old, has 50 employees and 3 corporate stores. We have managed to build them 100% debt-free and each store funds the next!

We have a unique marketing strategy that builds relationships with like-minded businesses, influencers partnerships but our primary focus has been on our referral program where we encourage our current clients to promote our brand knowing they will receive money back on their accounts, so far this tactic has been by far our most successful marketing strategy.

Any strategy mistakes you have made and what did you learn?

Yes! You’ll always make mistakes, its unavoidable. I would say our biggest mistake would have been the initial layout of our first location. It was crunch time and the space only had 5 beds, we learned very quickly that we could book in many more beds and services so we had to have our contractor do an overnight buildout and reformat the space.

Finally what advice do you have for your fellow entrepreneur readers?

Do your research, find a niche, ask potential customers and a focus group questions and really listen, because if you do the customers will tell you all of the answers you are searching for.
